View device

Mirror and control the selected USB Android screen from a second desktop window — locally on this computer only.

View device is an operator aid for the USB serial you already selected. It is not remote administration.

Getting startedSecurity boundaries

What it is

  1. Opens the selected authorized USB Android target in a new desktop window (or a full-screen page if the OS cannot spawn a second window).
  2. Prefers a local H.264 screenrecord stream to a 127.0.0.1-only player; JPEG/PNG stills are the fallback.
  3. Quality presets Low / Medium / High / Max adjust bit rate and on-device size.
  4. Accepts tap, double-tap, long-press, swipe, hold-then-drag, plus Back / Home / Recents / Wake.
  5. Host keyboard input is available when the view has focus.
  6. Dropping one or more .apk files onto the view installs on that USB serial after confirm (downgrade still needs a second confirm).

What it is not

  1. Not wireless ADB, not TCP/IP remote control, and not VNC.
  2. Not an OBS publisher, web stream URL, or public share link — the stream stays on 127.0.0.1.
  3. Not MDM, fleet control, or phone monitoring of devices you are not authorized to manage.
  4. Not a camera, microphone, or notification-forwarding product.

How to open it

  1. Connect a USB Android device and wait until Targets shows Connected.
  2. Select that device, then choose View device from the device card or header action.
  3. Privacy Mode still masks the serial in the View device chrome until you reveal it.

Common issues

  • Mirror is laggy or falls back to stills

    Lower the quality preset. Some devices do not support JPEG screencap; PNG stills or H.264 may be used instead.

  • Second window did not open

    Install Dock opens View device as a dedicated full-screen page in the main window with the same controls.

  • Dropped APK did nothing

    Confirm the file is an .apk and complete the confirmation dialog. Downgrades require a second confirm.
